Thanks to reader Bonnie Barney for this link to a letter in Psychology Today on electing a healthy narcissist to the presidency. The person we elect is bound to be a narcissist, according to the author, but we should make sure it’s one of the good kind.
I was surprised at something in this, so I looked it up. One thing the writer says is, I think, a bit misleading. While the word “Narcissist” is not a diagnosis, “Narcissistic Personality Disorderly” definitely is. I suggest that everyone avoid them, in personal life or public life, like the plague. I do agree that we should look for people who have very, very healthy egos — maybe even to the point of delusion — or else they would never even try! 🙂
